The following process was used by the Best Practices Toolkit Development Team when compiling the Toolkit:

• The RNAO BPG recommendations on the five priority clinical topics were reviewed and analyzed.  Only recommendations applicable to the LTC sector were selected to be addressed.
• Implementation resources posted on the RNAO website and those developed by the previous Long-Term Care Best Practice Coordinators posted on the Regional Geriatric Program (RGP) website were reviewed for inclusion consideration.
• Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Standards of Care and the Resident Assessment Instrument/Minimum Data Set (RAI-MDS) were incorporated in this resource.
• Literature review and field expert consultation were conducted to address any gaps.
• Successful implementation strategies were sought and integrated in the Toolkit along with examples of implementation models/frameworks.
• Appropriate evaluation tools were also included in the Toolkit.
